...and I am feeling like this!
We have an officer! I spoke with her, and she said we had been assigned to her about three minutes before I called. Amazing!
Immigration officers all respond differently to begging requests for expedition. I have been praying that our officer would be understanding and helpful, and she was! She said our case is next in line, and we should have approval within a week. I decided to push my luck and ask her to email a copy of our approval. (I will eventually need the original, but a copy is all I need to send to our country at this point.) She said that would be no problem at all! Woo-hoo!
Thanks so much for praying for this little part of our journey. We still have a long way to go (and I still have so much to learn about patience and letting go and trusting the Lord), but getting past this step is incredibly encouraging.
On another note, some of you might remember that I mentioned baby Kirill in one of my FB status updates back in March. Kirill is a little guy with Down Syndrome who lives in an orphanage in Russia. He has a mommy, a daddy, and a brother who love him and want to make him part of their family. In March, they traveled to Russia to go to court to adopt Kirill, and the judge said no.
She didn't say no because their family didn't meet the appropriate requirements or because she didn't feel comfortable with them adopting; she said no because she felt that Kirill was better off living in an institution than with a family. The judge even said she would approve the family to adopt a "typical" child but not Kirill. So heartbreaking. But Kirill's mommy and daddy didn't give up. They appealed the judge's decision, and this morning, in a courtroom somewhere in Russia, they became the parents of Gregory Kirill Davis. Praise the Lord! If you'd like to, you can keep reading about Kirill's story here.
