Sunlight through Clouds

This is going to be a really quick update because I have a date to watch The Bourne Supremacy with my husband and my sis.  Love that trilogy!  Just wanted to let you know that we got some encouraging adoption news this weekend.

First, I heard from another adoptive mom - you can check out her awesome blog here - that the country we're hoping to adopt from has decided to allow the SDA to continue processing adoptions after July 11 since the new adoption entity has not yet been established.  These adoptions will have to fit within the guidelines of the new law (children over four or children who have one of the special needs on "The List"), so it doesn't directly help us at this point.  (It does help my friend who is adopting a beautiful seven-year-old girl with HIV).  However, I am very thankful that adoptions will continue in some form.  I know many families who are waiting to adopt older children or children with needs on the list who will now be able to travel soon.

The other piece of good news came directly from Nina.  I just received an email from her that said...

I got news that the SDA got their right to continue their work (for what period of time I don't know yet), I will know more tomorrow, also there was a big broadcast on adoption and widening of the list of sick children on TV - the directors of the orphanages signed a petition to the President to widen it, I can see some sunlight through clouds :-)))  Will write as soon as I know anything.

Yay for some sunlight through clouds! :)  Please keep praying that the doors will open for more children with special needs to find their forever families.  Thanks for sharing this journey with us!

  4. I think it was on adoption.state.gov that I saw they are working on the new special needs list which will be published by October 11. All of the news I am hearing sounds pretty sure that HIV will be on 'the list'.
